after 11 months of living in Melbourne, we finally went to ICEHOUSE at Docklands! woohoo! i kinda forgot who were there with us. Dita, Kush, Ririn, Biondi, Fabian, and Jacqueline? oh yes, she's a pro! heheh. yea so this was how it looked like from the front.

and this was the inside people! yes, so many lights and look at those disco balls?! omg! oh and too bad i didn't take a photo of the huge screen on one of the walls, displaying video clips of the latest hits!

oh and one more thing, there was a DJ as well !! and i must say the songs were not bad at all, in fact they were awesome! you know how sometimes when you ice-skate you get tired and rest for a while at the edges of the rink? well there was not so much time for us to rest because everytime an awesme song like OMG, TIK TOK, or California Gurls, played, we rushed back in the rink and tried to skate and dance at the same time. so much fun! too bad ingrid and maureen weren't there :(

so we skated and skated..

... and at the end of the day we laughed seeing each other, how weirdly we walked on these things with painful feet. gonna go back there again! sometime later when everyone's here!

BASKETBALL, BURGERS, & (star)BUCKS.

After 11 months of living in Melbourne I finally went to Albert Park: this very well-known sports arena where lots of teams from unis or just random practice basketball, swimming, and many more. too bad i didn't take any pics of the indoor basketball courts, but i found a picture of the parc one on Google. the courts were totally awesome, there were 8 of them and there were even the score boards like the ones you can see in the NBA! haha it costs us 4 bucks per person to get in, they gave us these bracelets like the red ones like these but there were no time limit for the day.

Many people played today! Me, Jacqueline, Hendra, Inandra, Ririn, Steven, Josh, Ivan, Willy, and Erwin! At first we played full court which was so freakin tiring, but then after Inandra broke his toe-nail (i know rite:euw), Willy decided not to play as well, so we played half which i much preferred. After three hours of playing ball and burning carbs, Steven drove us to this really awesome 'take-away-burger-place' called ANDREW'S HAMBURGERS not so far from the park. But because there was only his car, the seven of us (minus Josh Erwin Ivan) 'crammed' into it. I don't remember the name of the street but am definitely going back there again next time!

The special thing about the burgers we had today was that it tasted a lot better than Grilled and was cheaper as well! You can totally taste the cheese, bacon, tomatoes, omg YUM. Oh and the staff there were so friendly!!! I think they're Greek. They were totally talking with us although the place was about to close and they also gave us a full package of chips for free! well yea maybe it was because they were closing, but whatever.. they're nice. haha

And omg it was so chilly today and stupid I was not to bring a scarf or anything. Everyone was jumpin around tryin to warm themselves up, and poor Willy who's allergic to cold weather, his skin started to itch. haha!

Steven said that the place was so near to St. Kilda beach and told Inandra to bring his car next time so we can all go together! omg so excited! I've watched a sunset there once and it was perfectly ORANGE.

and these are some old buildings around the block. there were benches and lots of trees. The tram also passes this street so it's gonna be very convenient if we ever gonna come here next time.

so we came back home, and finally, after a nice and warm shower, I joined Dita, Icha, Ingrid and Maureen at STARBUCKS COFFEE. believe it or not we actually studied!! yeay!! well... except the fact that some of us keep on refreshing facebook every 10 minutes, updating twitter and ONE OF US drew a heart on my ankle, thanks to Jacqueline Utomo.

it doesn't matter it actually kinda looks sexy, like duh, it IS my ankle? hahah, and the picture below is when Jacqie caught me eating Maureen's MARS cholcolate bar. sorry Maureen! ;)

SCREW EXAMS!

Screw exams! 've been studying so f-in hard and still went out of the examination room lookin like 0_0 ? You guys have no idea how i had the thought of crucifying Robert Dixon (our lecturer) when i was doing my Quantitative Methods. Jacqlyn even dreamed about him. like, literally. And not just once, twice i guess? She proudly states it on twitter even if it was her worst nightmare ever. So anyways me and some of my friends kinda have a-week-or-two break before our last exam. Two days ago, all i had in mind was: yea i guess i'll ACCOMPANY these guys to go shopping. Yesterday, i was the one who spent the most. -_-

And yes right now i am trying to figure out a way to explain all this to my parents at the end of the month but anyways it was a lot of fun. seriously. so it was me, NINDITA HAPSARI, ICHA HAPSARI (and no they're not siblings), and ALICIA ATMADJA, on the first day. We went to Melbourne Central, QV and obviously Bourke Street.

Shopping can never ever be boring with these guys around, they seriously just try on everything without caring of how people looked at them, but in the end Ali got scared though when someone started to talk to her and asked for her name.

Icha, on the other hand, always tries to start a conversation with every single mannequin she sees. From 'Hello' to 'How are you..' then Ali says 'See you later.'

The second day we finally came back to the LOST AND FOUND MARKET.

omg i just love it they have really cute and unique stuff, Dita bought hrself a denim skirt. I finally got a leather jacket for 65 bucks! and it was beige in color! i love it! and i also got like a simple black blazer with gold buttons. Icha got 2 cute sweaters.

JACQLYN UTOMO was there with us but she didn't buy anything until we reached the city again. She bought a leather jacket from General Pants!

Oh have i mentioned i bought a pair of ankle boots and 'short' heels for myself? AND DITA! haha! She bought a pair of leopard-printed heels which made everyone go 'GRAOR' everytime she takes a step out of the tram or up the stairs. hahaha!

These are actually late photographs, when one day at Union House, me, Jacq, Steven, Hendra, and Inandra were done eating, got bored, and Steven suddenly said: "hey, let's play basketball?"

The boys were so excited that they jumped off their chair and headed straight to the Trinity court (the very first court at which I played basketball in Melbourne with Hendra. :') hiks)

Because it was drizzling, me and Jacq decided not to play. But it so hilarious seeing Hendra folding his jeans up to his calves (he looked like an indo who was trying to escape a flood). Inandra was totally disgusted every time anyone passed him the wet ball so he had to get rid of it by shooting as fast as possible. haha So anyway after that, they decided to go to Carlton Garden.

As the boys were playing, this was what me and Jacq were doing.

Honestly we were acting like total idiots. Playing at the playground, jumping here and there, climbing every rope we see (I'm exaggerating, there was only one -_- ) haha. In indo, this is what we call MKKB, which stands for Masa Kecil Kurang Bahagia. And guess what? Soon after the boys have finished playing basketball, ........... they joined us.

Steven gave it a go first and went all through the whole monkey bars.

Inandra freaked out at the very first bar. "Shit! It's been a long time that I haven't worked out, okaaaay!" -_- YEA RITE, you gemuk!

Hendra was so ready when he jumped and realized his feet suddenly touched the ground. -_- so he walked his way through the monkey bars.

After fooling around a few more minutes, we went home. That was a good thing bcause I didn't want y stocking to get even more torn. -__- But it was a good day :)

Hoy suf! I just reached home, decided to clean up my room, and guess what I found? You remember when we were at Pondok tower 1, and i had this little small scrapbook that Jovi and Gadis (my bestfriends) gave me? And then you wrote at the very last page? I found it!! Look look!

Hey guys! I'm currently reading through my lecture notes for psychology and found this super cool image that i can't get over with. It's all about the idea of illusion and how what we interpret can totally affect what we see.

So you guys see the word 'ANNUAL' and 'REVIEW'. They're actually the same color. YES PEOPLE. the same color, as well as the words 'OF' and 'PSYCHOLOGY'. Our eyes and mind are tricked by the color of the bars, playing in the whole image. It all depends on how they strike the words.

The purple lines and the yellow lines can strike other in front of the words, or behind them. Don;t believe it?

Look at the small vertical lines between the words and see for yourself. cool huh?!!

Rooftop Bar

Yesterday night me, Dita, Kushal, and Ingrid went to this pretty cool bar which is literally located at the rooftop of Curtin House on Swanston Street. It's on the seventh floor and unfortunately there was no lift. Well, there was. But it wasn't working. So yes, we had to go up the stairs with our heels and coats, but it was all worth it.

the music was good and the place itself was nice. I liked the bar,but too bad there wasn't too many seats. We found ourselves some seats though and good thing it was at the edge of the rooftop so we got to see a view of the city and the city night lights. it was pretty!

we chit-chat as usual, did some catching up and talked about what all of us are gonna do during the upcoming holidays. Kushal's going back to India, Ingrid's going back to Indo and then go for this trip to Europe with her cousin (lucky bitch ;) ) and Dita's going back to America to help her parents pack, as they're going to shift back to Indo.

And me? Guess what, yes, I am staying here. My family and I decided that it wasn't really a big deal if i didn't go home. I can do lots of things here in Melbourne too. Besides, my cousin, Dea, is coming here so I might take her for a little tour around the city to show how it's like in Melbourne.

What else did we talk about? Oh and as usual we talked about some people we know. And when we were talking like that I was pretty happy to realize that although each one of us are currently really busy with tasks and essays or assignments at Uni, we still manage to find some time to gather like this. Especially with Ingrid since she lives really far away from the three of us now. Unfortunately she left early so we didn't get to take pictures with her. But it was a good night :)

We went to se7en again! But this time with Athari :))

To be honest it wasn't the best night because the DJ wasn't really good, in fact it wasn't good at all, but it was still OK. The side room was okay though, so we here and there and chit-chatted while we sat.

What I loved the most was what I was wearing though. Thanks to Dita! haha it's actually hers and I borrowed it from her. I like the dress so much because it doesn't show anything from the front but it's really classy-sexy from the back. :)

and so we spent the night dancing. there was actually an event and it's called CRAZY GLASSES. but since i didn't wore any, i don't have pictures of them. you shud try and look up on Ingrid's album 'Crazy Glasses' to see the fun ;) enjoy!

Brighton Beach at last :)

yesterday was a super duper tiring day! me and dita were totally bored as the otherswere doing essays or other assignments. when i was chatting with dita, she suddenly said : let's go to st. kilda (in a joking kinda way) but then i thought she was serious so i said: what about brighton? she says: ... OK. hahaha!

so here we are,we made it Dita, we can finally travel by train ON OUR OWN. so proud of us. well actually you lead the way and i totally went : "OMG, thank god i have u here.." all day ... -_-

so behold ... BRIGHTON BEACH.

the sand was not as soft as i thought, but the most amazing thing is the color of the ocean. you almost can't tell where the horizon lies. you almost can't tell which is the sea and which is the sky. it was blue, and very clear. there were also pelnty of shells on the seashore.

we played by the seashore (the water was pretty cold) we fond these poor dead jellyfishes :'( they were very very extra squishy and cute that i was thinking of bringing them back to my place. (okay i admit it that was kindof a stupid idea) again, they remind me of the jellyfishes in Finding Nemo :')

we walked along the seashore and saw these big big rocks. so we just chilled there, took pictures and let me tell you there were two couples who were pacaran, but we and dita played really LOUD MUSIIIC !!!! WOOOHOOOO yea we didnt care, the beach is ours too you know. haha i played OMG - Will I Am ft. Usher, then Dita played I'm Yours, Memories, and Shooting Stars. But the BEST was Breathe - Telepopmusik. SO SOOOTHIIING.

we spent the rest of the day by chilling on the rocks with music playing. Dita finished her Grilled, and i rinsed the seashells i collected. they're huge! almost as big as my palm :)

i was really happy that day but me and Dita promised that next time we'd go swimming ;) just wait for it guys. more fun photos of me and my friends at Brighton coming up!

On a sunny sunny day at KonJen, we all gathered together to have indonesian lunch! the food was pretty good but i was kinda dissapointed bcause they didn't have ketoprak :'( but they do have sate! i also had batagor and es cendol. hehe now i'm kinda ashamed of how much i had that time.

there was also nice music from a band called '69'. my friend Della played the saxophone, she was pretty hot, good job!! and i honestly think the songs they played were awesome. some indo songs i can't recall the titles. so we just ate, chatted and sat on the green grass. what a beautiful day it was!

alicong was there as well! yeay! and this crazy biotch keeps on shouting my name out loud every time i walk pass her. she also brought her Polaroid camera which i find pretty cool.

there were also lots of games, some singing, and other fun stuff. most of the trinits went. some stayed to enjoy the day there, but some left right after they ate. haha! oh, even Alyssa Soebandono was there. (she's an indonesian artist! - for those who don't know) the whole event was ended by the dance of POCO-POCO on the grass. we didn't dance though, but the people were quite amusing!

overall, the event was pretty pleasant!

The wonders of Moomba Festival

THE SLING SHOT !! none of us went on this creepy thingy cause it freaking costs 30 bucks for EACH person. we were like, no way. actually that was just an excuse for me. i'd never go on this ride are u kidding me.

There were so many games at the festival and Radit won this super big killer whale prize AND HE GAVE IT TO ME! thank you dit!!!

It was so big I couldn't even carry it myself! When me and Fabian were carrying it, all the little kids went WWOOOOOOOW!! it was so cute to see them smiling or confused or frowning with jealousy!! hahaha and you see the little dog Fabian's got on his chest? i named it BOLT although it doesn't even look like THE Bolt. but i fin it cute, so. haha

YEAP! i even had to take it home first before the fireworks started!! AND IT'S AS BIG AS MY QUEEN SIZE BED!!! hahaha! but now i shifted it on the floor and Dita likes to sit on its head. yea so the upper part of the head kinda looks a bit flat and dumb. LOL

and these are some of the games at the festival!

at night, Moomba Festival was even more beautiful. Although it was kinda slippery and everything cause it was raining, it was so nice with all the lights on and the music playing everywhere. It was almost always different for every ride.

what a beauty.

oh and this one was pretty unique! it was like a house but with lots of things going on in it. Like you had to run over rolling wheels and jump over things to get to the exit. Dita got in and she said it was okay. well, there's always next year! :)

If you think the lobby is the only place we can meet each other at Rasuna, you are absolutely wrong.

We may hang out at places outside of Rasuna, but most of the time, the 5th floor is where you'll be able to find us most of the time.

These are the three places i am going to miss the most at Rasuna...

1. THE BASKETBALL COURT

It's not the serious games that I'm gonna miss, but the silly and stupid ones we all had when we were bored.

playing cards, running around like lunatics, taking pictures, shooting videos of the boys going crazy playing ball.

2. THE SWIMMING POOL

I'll never forget when Mickey pushed me into the water and my phone broke down.

All the fun we all had splashing water to each other's faces.

and simply the chilling at the pool side...

and finally .....

3. PONDOK TOWER 17

Day or night/Day till night.

As years pass by, some people may go, but new ones came and stay :)

Rasuna or non-rasuna peeps are always welcome :)

But this place still is the place to gossip, to laugh, to bitch, to share... to care...

Now, it's been almost 8 years since me and Yusuf have known this spot,
and he still is the best friend he was 8 years earlier.

I just wish that none of us will forget any of our memories at Rasuna. These places mean a lot to us, and I am more than glad we had the little reunion when I came back to Indo. :') Thank you guys.

It is finally official people! can't wait to face this new world!

The very first day of orientation went very very well! We all met new friends from different countries!

At 'The Amazing Race' (a race all around Melbourne) we were too excited that i accidentally injured Dhanika.

These are Sally and Arlyn, two very crazy new Indo peeps that i met.

We played basketball at Carlton Garden with other friends and Hendra (he was the one who took this picture).

Though Ingrid is no longer my roommate, we still chilled together!

This teddy bear is super huge and guess how much it costs? 1000 dollars.

Once, me dita kushal and stanley went to Lygon st to get some ice cream and there was this italian festival!

There were dancing so nice and the music made it all very spectacular!

Believe it or not, Kushal's mom MADE these FOR ME. :')

Hahaa, you know what? it's actually been 5 minutes that i'm staring at my laptop screen because i really don't know where to start! so i'm just gonna keep it simple kay? take a look at these pictures, babe! :)

You've always been a great friend since junior high. Who would've known we were going to be roommates in Melbourne? We were (of course) in the same theater club, TPSU! (yeay!) Remember when you had the role of the queen gangster, and me as the queen-senior-bitch?! haha yea, we both had the bad girls role. I JUST WONDER WHY INGRID. hmmmmm *frowning and thinking hard*

Oh, and the best part was when it was Pentas Seni! We took a lot of pictures of us 'kissing' but i seriously don't wanna put them up cause i know Kushal's gonna go like what the f*ck?! lol and remember when we were practicing the scene at school. and you (as the head nurse) winked at me (as the head priest)? THAT WAS SO DUMB.

The third year of junior high was the year of the school's dance team, BACSTAGE, for me. and of course, you do remember that you were the make-up artist for the team don't you? You were there all along Ingrid! You've always watched most of our competition and performances in almost every party! but the most important thing is that you were there to support us grid! and honestly that means so much for us all, well at least for me :)

But you know what Ingrid? my definition of having you as a friend became totally different when we became roommates.

Our place to stay, sleep, bitch, and party baby! lol! It was a total brand new environment for the both of us. Your mom was there for the first month, and yes, we behaved like angels.

I know you love this photo, and that's why i'm putting it up! It was winter when we first came to Melbourne. and everything was just damn EXPENSIVE for us. lucky for you, you have your walking-ATM around. -_- grrrr haha!

and so anyways, we started our journey in Trinity. Do you remember how panicked and nervous we were the night before the first day of school?! HAHA. it was totally hilarious babe! we mixed and matched so many clothes and were wondering if it was lebai if we wore boots to school! hahaha but we did so well. we met a lot of friends and started to study the very same electives: maths 1, economics, and psychology.

But of course, apart from studying, there were things we had to do as new-comers in Melbourne. ;) We started to explore the city. Remember that night at Se7en? and you said it was actually the best night right? lol. I WONDER WHY INGRID, i wonder why. *frowning and thinking hard* lol we also went to some cafes. Max Brenners, San Churro, oh and also Animal Cafe near school!! Remember when we both thought that the atmosphere's so cool with all the pictures on the walls and comics and abstract art all over the place? :)

And please, do not forget, the SHOPPING. You ain't going out with Ingrid if you're not shopping guys, i'm telling you. Even if it's only window-shopping! hahaha if you're wondering how and when to see Ingrid smile the largest or the most, the answer is when she enters stores, grab some dresses here and there and directly disappears to the fitting room, or when she's trying shoes on. WELL YOU GET WHAT I MEAN. hahaha

But after every time we go out, we always come back to our home 663. And the balcony's our favourite place. The view's awesome. but what's important is that it's where our gossip sessions start. lol! and they were always opened by the line : "So.. Tell me something new... " ;)

We were two over-narcissistic little girls that we even take pictures during break. WITH YOUR PHOTO BOOTH. come on, a phone's camera is okay. but posing in front of your laptop at noon to take over than a hundred photographs (i'm not kidding!) ??? i'll never forget that day Ingrid. remember when we wanted to make weird faces, but i stopped when i saw someone's coming, but you continued? HAHAHAHAA. you slapped me after that.

And this was at the psychology tutorial. can you believe it? even before we start class we opened your laptop first. haha. speaking of psychology, remember the first and only fight that we had? it was about the psych essay. just a misunderstanding and i'm really glad we directly knew that no one was right or wrong. it was really cool when he hugged in my room. and you know what i'll never forget? "I love you." "I love you too." :')
seconds, minutes, days, months past. on the 28th of January, we all graduated. and in early february, i got a phone call from you, saying that you got into Psychology. seriously, you have no idea how i'm proud of you! you once told me that you were worried that you won't get accepted in Psych. but no, Ingrid. you did! I was really happy to hear you cheering on the phone.

but the day after that i realized that actually, those days, of me and you being roommates, are now over. you're now living with your sister, and i'm staying alone at Micasa with kushal (i hope) and Dita.

what makes me sad the most is that we have to leave 663. that room is just filled with incredible memories grid. moments of us, and also a couple of friends that once had fun in that room... it used to be our place to hang, but also to rest from the crazy stuff going on in Melbourne.

remember when we cleaned up the apartment for the last time that day? we removed our board on the wall which had posts and notes all over it, saying stuff about us, and we replaced it with the apartment's original portrait, a picture of a flower? that was when i got so emotional.

it's over, grid. those days are over. but i hope our friendship grows stronger. you've been so much fun and i have no idea how i would survive Trinity without you. so thank you, for being a great friend, a best friend. you were there all along. when i broke up with jovi, when i dropped econs, and when i fought with kushal. lol so thank you Ingrid! :')

oh and there's just too many pictures and i'm sorry if i can't make you a scrapbook like i did for kushal, babe! and i just hope you like this! my way of saying thank you to you!

At around 10.30 am i walked up the stairway to the hall with Feli and saw a bunch of girls sitting on the floor. they were all wearing black. as soon as they saw me, they got up and hugged me like hell! one of them called Jeannie smacked my butt so hard and most of them said i got skinnier (oh yeah beibeh) lol. then they told me it was the 'election' day for the new 'captain' for the theater. so we quickly got inside. as i got in, some of the juniors who already knew who i am, recognized me and shouted my name with smiley faces! and at last, i met Pak Efri (Mr.Efri) lol. still skinny, and as usual always wearing black, he hasn't changed AT ALL. even the way he talks and smile very super ultra politely. but all of the alumni are uber proud of him. especially what he's done for the last theater performance called NUJUMAN. the original story of MacBeth combined with the traditional legend of Indonesia's Nujuman. here are some pics.

it was just so nice to meet all of TPSU members (Teater Putri Santa Ursula). watching them discussing things and joking around reminds me of the days me and my friends were still there. well, we are still a part of the community. but i swear to god it just feels different. although i was only part of the team for two years (unlike some of my friends who did TPSU for three years), i've learned A LOT. and TPSU is not just about having fun and making best friends here and there. i'm not saying that all of the members of three badges are super close to each other and are bestfriends for life or whatever. but sometimes there are times when we just knew we were always there for each other and that TPSU is a family, not just a community.

personally, i miss the fun and the sad in TPSU.

i miss wearing the 'galembong', the icon-outfit for every TPSU member.

i miss lazing around while waiting for each of our turn to walk on stage.

i miss the praying and singing when we do 'UPANG' (upacara panggung).
i miss every evaluation, where we always learn from our mistakes.

i miss how straight-forward and honest we always were in giving advices.

i miss how solid our friendship grew.

i miss calling each other with our characters' names.
i miss every make-up test and trying on costumes.
i miss drawing moustaches on the 'guys'' faces.

i miss learning how to walk like a 40-year-old man.

i miss practicing the stomach voice.

and to be honest, i miss eating 'kunyit' whenever our throat is sore.

It's been more than seven months that we haven't met and yesterday i finally got the chance to see you right before you were leaving to America. On the 29th of January 2010, i came back to Indonesia, but i hated to see you leave on the very same day.

you got skinnier! yeap! so so so skinnier, and prettier too! but your personality hasn't changed and that's what i'm extremely proud of. although a hell of a lot of things happened within these 7 months, you're still the craziest thing in town. you pinched my cheeek and shouted out: MMNNYIIIIAAAAAH!!!!!!!! made weird faces and said crazy things.

I'll never forget the times we spent together nis! from junior high till high school. from the moment our hair were still oily and belah-tengah until our body shapes are now finally acceptable in society.

I'll never forget the times when we cracked on PINK PANTHER, making fun of Clouseau's accent.

I'll never forget the times when we study for the exams together, singing on 'Just So You Know' by Jesse McCartney.

I'll never forget the times we spent hitting on malls and ate crappy junk food like Burger King.

I'll never forget the ugly faces you always make to make me laugh.

I'll never forget my 17th birthday when you came to my place and surprised me with a cake :)

I'll never forget the fact that you always exhaggerate when you tell stuff about other people.

I'll never forget the times when i was down and you were always there to support me.

To be short, i've always enjoyed it everytime you were around! it's just so much of fun!

and in the past 7 months, to be honest i thought you've forgotten about me because everytime i say 'Hi' on msn you were never there. and i never had a single word with you since i left to Melbourne! so yeah, i thought i kinda 'lost' you. but i was wrong...

you don't know how i felt when you hugged me and i gave you advices yesterday, you cried... i suddenly recall all those old days again ninis! and all i wanted yesterday was to show you i was and will always going to be there for you. no matter what. there's absolutely no way we're gonna lose contact cause technology's always there for us. (duh?) haha

look nis, i don't wanna be too long, but just so you know, i'm still the old Alda you use to spend stupid times with. when you said "I love youu" yesterday, i believe you! but i want you to realize that i love you too nis! you're a big big girl now.. i know you can take really good care of yourself.

just make wise decisions throughout your days there nis. it's a brand new environment, and i know you love America. but sometimes, the lifestyle there is just not for us, the easterns. you know what i mean.. you probably even know more than i do. last month you just turned 20, so act 20! make us proud as a sanurian! and most importantly, be tough and never give up on anything you do there.

That afternoon i got a text message from PIMP KG, saying : "I got the keys.."

haha yea so previously we all helped him shift from UniLodge to Micasa8. And this new place is also where Dita and Stanley live, AND is going to be my future home. hahaha

Kushal's room is 210, dita's 117, stanley 110, me: 1010!

hahaha

so we came over 210 and had dinner! Fabian, Ririn and the others made cupcakes for kushaaal! we took pictures and chilled at his place. the girls (as always) wash the dishes later on but it was so much of fun! the guys went crazy jumping on top of each others' ass, and of course Kushal was at the very bottom of them all. ;)

I so wanna get into Melbourne Uni. My marks right now are 80-ish in average but that's still not enough to study commerce in Mel-U. I gotta get an 85 to get in. but my average mark doesn't have participation and attendance included in it yet, so i just hope it goes up and up. besides that was term 1. I'm currently waiting for term 2 exam results and preparing for term 3 exam.

next week is Christmas holidays. it's gonna be so much fun!
21st: Christmas lunch and games at Trinity College
22nd: Puffy Billy (train trip) with July Fast Track!
23rd: Drama rehearsal with the group!
25th: CHRISTMAS at Inandra's place (Freshwater)-- Gift Exchange!
26th: Boxing day!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO !

but on the other hand, i've got so much work to do which i purposely wanna list out here so that i can manage to at least work on these during the holidays:

- EAP presentation: World Trade Organization (due 7th of January)
- Maths sheet: 24-27.
- Othello: Act 3-5.
- Preparation for HOI exam.
- Summarize psychology!

Shit, after i list it all out i realized how much of work it is. shit shit!
how the hell am i supposed to do all that when such activities are gonna be held during the holidays. GRRR! well you know what i'm not gonna set up a target cause every time i do that, basically nothing happens, but hey, i'm gonna try my best. wish me luck. ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAYS FELLAS!

Walk Against Warming - Melbourne 2009

You have no idea how this event touched me and some of my friends' hearts. 40.000 MELBOURNIANS WALKED FROM STATE LIBRARY DOWN TO PRINCESS BRIDGE CARRYING SIGNS, WEARING COSTUMES AND SHOUTING MOTTOS AND YELLINGS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING. THE GOAL IS TO MAKE A HUMAN SIGN WHICH SAYS : "SAFE CLIMATE DO IT!"

me and some of my friends volunteered to be marshals. A marshal is someone who's responsible in keeping everyone in every letter arranged in such a way that makes the whole human letter look beautiful from above. me and my friends decided to take are of the letter "E" from "CLIMATE" because it was pretty symmetrical, therefore it'll be easier to keep people inside the tape around the letter.

What amazed me wasn't just the event, but also the whole crowd that was smiling throughout the whole time. and we can see through their eyes how they were thankful that such an event occurred in Melbourne. I was standing, holding the tape at a particular position on the letter 'E' when this whole family of 2 little boys, a single mom, a grandpa and grandma were chatting next to me. the boys went: look mommy, balloon! the grandpa was carrying all the stuff and smiled at them, when the grandma offered them cherries excitedly. Their mom always smiled and asked the boys to stay inside the tape. I don't know why but i really liked that scene. I was so touched in such a sunny day, they were even willing to be there, bringing the whole family, just to support the event. :')

another adult came to me and said: "Do you know that you're a very important person?" I was shocked but then i laughed and asked: "haha.. why so?" he said "I don't know.. it's just amazing that you're willing to volunteer!" i laughed again and answered "Well, we all are important people then! :)"

the thing is, not only that the event was extremely well-coordinated, but the joy in the people gives a lot more meaning that just an action against warming.

this was one of my best experiences in Melbourne (yet) :)))

so so so sorry people for updating my birthday this late! especially for those in Jakarta, haha! finally now u'll know too! uhm.. what i'm gonna write is really in brief though, okay?

okay so at the 25th of October, i was showering at 9.45-ish when Kushal and Dita came over.. so the four of us (with Ingrid) played cards like complete idiots, and sang to several songs we played on YouTube,.. the usual stuff we do when they're over.. and so, at 12, they all wished me, Ingrid first, second Dita, then Kushal who gave me the biggestbiggesthugever, he also kissed me on the forehead :) maureen, alicia, evelyn, fabian and several other friends wished me through phone calls and texts. after kushal and dita went back home, fabian was so funny he threatened me of pouring flour and throwing rotten eggs at me (the traditional indonesian way to "wish" someone's birthday), i was like, shit shit. especially when he said, "you know, alda, in front of Evan Burge (where my class is located on Monday), there a wide wide area.... it's really nice..uhm.." i went like shit shit again.haha then before i slept, Kushal texted me :

"Happy Birthday sweetheart.... Tmrw lunch with moi in the afternoon?"

I found the message kinda sweet cause he's never asked me out to spend some time, you know, only the both of us, it was always with the other guys! we've always been havin fun with the other guys as well! so yeah.. that's why i asked him back: "only the two of us?" and he answered : "No also with my parents..of course the two of us." HAHA

it was a sunny sunny day in the morning when i went to class where everyone wished me :) i felt really happy, then one of my classmates told John (our loveable History Of Ideas teacher) that it was my birthday! John paused, then said : "REALLY? well, then have a splendid splendid day on your birthday!" i smiled, then he said : "It's mine, too, by the way.." and the whole class went: "WOAH! REALLY JOHN???! HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAY!" it was such a coincidence! he asked for my age, i wanted to ask his, before i realized that it's kind of impolite (he's adorable ut pretty old. lol)

anyway it was still sunny, i was walking towards 7eleven to meet Kushal. he accompanied me to the student health care where he hated the smell (the smell of you know.. hospital and cliniques..haha), then to the post office to grab some money before we went to lygon.

we decided to eat outdoor at Universal, (italian cuisine)!! we both ordered pasta, and since we ordered the main entree one, turns out we got free wine! it tasted quite well! so we ate, and chatted about stuff, bitched about people (as usual, and it turns out it doesn't really matter whether we're with or without ingrid and dita.LOL) then he took out his birthday gift from his bag..

AND OH SHIT. he gave me this swimsuit that i've always wanted since a month ago :))) i have to tell u, it was totally unpredictable! so last month, we went to Saint Kilda right,me, kush, dit. then we went to this small shop which i don't even remember the name and the street it was on, and luckily i found this black swimsuit, i tried it on, and both of them liked it too, kush said i looked hot (i've ALWAYS BEEN hot babe, and u just realized? -_-' lol) but when i wanted to buy it, kush immediately said that it was soo not worth it for 45 bucks and that i should just look for something as similar at SEAFOLLY (beach wear shop) which is a well-known brand with high quality products. so i didn't buy it. TURNS OUT HE TOLD THE SHOPKEEPER TO KEEP IT AND THE VERY NEXT DAY HE WENT BACK TO THAT SHOP AND BOUGHT IT. hahaha!! :)) i really had no idea he'd do that for me, cause it was in early october.. and what's so shitty is that ingrid and dita knows about it right, and damn! THE WHOLE MONTH i was like shit, do u think the swimsuit's still there?? and INGRID AND DITA BOTH ALWAYS SAID: i really don't know.. u better go check it, otherwise someone'll get it before you...and damn it's the last piece.. but since i was always broke, i didn't go there at all.. but i really really liked it :'( hahaha thanks babe! :')

and then he told me that there was a note inside the bag.. so i opened it, and it was a letter!awww :') i swear to god, the first thing that popped in my mind was: this is so NOT KUSHAL GUPTA!!! the lunch?? the letter?? but when i read it, it was SO SOOOO HIIIIM !! hahaha! here goes

HAHAHA! after i finished reading it, he told me how hectic it was when he wrote the letter, he was like: Ingrid what should i write what should i write i can't do thiiis! then ingrid said: no noo, u wanted this! now wriiiite! then he was so nervous that he wrote 'remember' wrongly on the FIRST LINE. hhahaha then he said that dita then came inside the room, took the letter and suddenly said: WHAT REMBER REMBER??!?!?! then they burst into laughter. haha

anyway just so you know, we've been in an open relationship for two months. he actually has asked me several times whether i wanted to date him or not, but there are some things that i didn't like about him so i always try to change the topic or just say i wasn't ready (which i wasn't). when he asked me to tell him what those things are in order for him to change and be with me, i told him. and that time i really honestly didn't expect anything because i knew he wouldn't be able to change.but then as i spent days with him for the whole next month, me and most of my friends were shocked to see how different he became. i'm not saying he changed completely, but it significant enough that my friends also notice it.so i'm so proud of him.. i really am :)

anyways back to Uniersal, after quite a while i finally said "Yes". and guess what, it's been so long that i answered No that he didn't believe me. he said no, No, seriously, you're just saying that.

There's a lot more of awesome performances during the concert. it's just that my phone's battery got low so i can't record it all. for example : Will.I.Am did his thing by letting himself be a DJ for us all.. he mixed all the hottest latest songs so smoothly we couldn't even tell the song were changing if we didn't knew'em.. he also played the piano (SO HOT) oh and when he was on his DJ thingy, the whole mini-stage was literally lifted up so high towards the ceiling and he rocked Melbourne for quite a long time.. he literally turned the whole place to a pub. everyone was dancing , it was totally like a club minus the alcohol - NO JOKE.

M.J. Hyland's How the Light Gets In is the story of Lou Connors, a super-smart 16-year-old from the slums of Sydney who wins a scholarship to partake in a year-long student exchange program to the United States. She's thrilled at the opportunity to get away from her scummy home and even scummier relatives, predicting she'll thrive in this new environment, able to build and create a persona closer to what she believes is her authentic self.

Her plan fails, though, when she discovers that even on the other side of the world in a loving household with all of life's necessities at her fingertips, she's still not satisfied. Is her host-family, the Hardings, cultivating her outlandish behavior by giving her everything she needs, including a second chance (or two) at redemption, or is Lou Connors simply incapable of being loved?

Lou just can't seem to fit in with her new family. She succeeds at her new school, but resists any kind of companionship from her host-parents. After a few mishaps, including getting caught smoking in her room, Lou detaches herself more and more from the Hardings, acting up whenever she can until they have little choice but to send her away. She winds up in a hostel for wayward exchange students where she continues to resist the efforts of counselors and other helpful folks to reach out to her, instead choosing to lie about feeling better and more in control of her emotions. A new host-family and even more opportunities thrown her way still fail to elevate Lou out of her poor-me slump and before she knows it, she back at the hostel feeling even more sorry for herself.

The disaffected-teen-on-a-path-of-destruction is a premise so old it's got spider webs hanging from its spider webs. Hyland's take on the idea tries to break new ground by having Lou fight her inner demons in a foreign country, but the problem here is not the tiredness of the story but the failure of an apparently intelligent protagonist to endear the reader to her plight due to consistent screw-ups explained away with age-old and predictable excuses like teenage rebelliousness and poor upbringing.

Hyland apparently considers these excuses satisfactory, but instead of shaping Lou, her rebellion directly contrasts with her supposed intelligence. Lou manages an SAT test score, for example, in the top one percent of the nation, yet acts particularly unfazed when she wakes up with her host-brother's hand down her pants. She leaves sappy notes around the house for her host-parents to find declaring her adoration for them and her desire to be just like them, yet can't seem to understand their reluctance to nurture her after she steals from them and repeatedly breaks curfew, stumbling in at all hours of the night hyped up on gin and cigarettes. (How exactly she manages to purchase these items so frequently, being significantly underage in the United States, is never explained -- in fact, there is very little mentioned at all regarding the differences between Chicago and suburban Sydney, rendering Lou's displacement little more than a convenient plot device.)

Lou's fondness for smokes and booze is just one indication Hyland gives that her protagonist is struggling with Repressed Teen Syndrome. Others include her penchant for Gogol and her hatred for the mall, shopping and girly magazines. She never exactly lets on as to what she learns from Russian literature or why she loves gin and cigarettes so much, but, according to Lou, explanation is the last thing she needs:

What kind of moron thinks that there's an explanation for all human behavior? What kind of fool thinks that perversity can be explained? It's obvious. I felt like garbage for one reason or another and drank to make myself feel better even though it could ruin my chances of escape. What's so hard to understand about that?

Nothing, really, if the "one reason or another" were fully explored beyond simply the perils of youth. This explanation is simply not enough to account for why someone so apparently devastatingly self-aware persists in behaving so immaturely. Why does Lou even attempt to reconcile with the Hardings if she knows so well her pattern of destruction? What hope is there when Lou herself knows she's stuck in an inescapable cycle of abuse?

It's near impossible to sympathize with Lou as she continually lets herself down by acting so far above everyone around her that she cannot see -- or ignores -- to what extent she is to blame for her own downfall. She cries victim whenever the system fails her but refuses to let her intelligence lead her to happiness and acceptance. Hyland fails her, too, by wrapping her story up in the neatest (and most preposterous) of packages that manages only to teach Lou that no matter how much of an asshole you are, good things will eventually happen to smart people. If only.

Holidays?

haha we strated off our holidays by doing nothing at UniLodge! Nindita Dwi Hapsari is currently in love with Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas is You! so we sang to that song on youtube with the lyrics. then i decided to stay over.. we tried to watch What Happens in Vegas but got bored, so went to bed.. in the morning, thanks to Kushal Gupta, i now know how a natural baby birth is. yeap. HE FORCED me to see the part when they like sorta cut off the vagina to make way for the baby. blood was everywhere totally EUW-ish. we also saw some AFVs (Americas Funniest Videos), from super funny wedding disasters to horny-doll-humping babies (i know, rite). HAHAHA

we were so bored we tried to come up with ideas of places we should go instead of lying on the bed all day, such as : Melbourne Aquarium, Melbourne Zoo, cinemas.. oh and kush even wanted to go watch a Hindi movie called What's with Rashee or somethin like that.. hahaha and at the end of the day, YEAP. we did none of them.

so i went back, went to church, met vicky and astrid, went back, turn on my computer, and on skype, kush suddenly sent me "alda see this".. turns out he edited some of our pictures!!! here it is.. so nice (:
